Warmbloods
This horse are perfect for dressage and are set in the middle weight catergory. They suppposedly descended from a wild breed called the forest horse in Europe. They are not a mix of hotblood(Arabians and Thouroughbreeds- both excellent for dressage) and the colblood(working draft horses).
Arabians
These spirited horses are idetified by the shallow dip in their nose and their spirited nature. Their tail is also usually high ended. Even though they can be high spirited and full of energy, they have a gentle disposition and are very gentle to train. Although some Arabians fall under the catergory of pony, they are seen as horses because of their long history and pedigree. Although seen as a light horse, they are excellent over distance and have excellent endurance. They are perfect for dressage, jimcanna and junping.
Thoroughbreds
Thouroughbreds are the largest of the sports horses. The working drafty horses are larger but are not used for sport as they are too robust. These horses are various breeds but are grouped together because of the pure line of blood. They are perfect for dreassage, Jimcanna and Jumping due to their abililty to learn and their easy going nature. However, due to their size, an accident on these horses can prove to be fatal. They are exceptional powerful and for an unseasoned rider, they can be difficult to work with.
Crossbreeds
When a thouroughbred is mixed with another breed you get crossbreeds. Due to genetic make ups and agressive and recessive genes, the variations in this catergory are wide! Also, by mixing the breeds, a variety of these are classified as ponies due to their size. Depending on how they are mixed, these horses can good in each sport and usually have exceelent natures. Due to the size of a pony, they are excellent start horses for beginners.
Ponies
When people think of ponies, they usually imagine minituares horses only suitable for being pets. However, as I stated before, any horse under 14 hands, is classified as a pony. Their breeds are varied as much as their size and it is a known fact that the smaller the horse, the more difficult they are to handle. However, if their mean streak doesnt put you off, their size is not really a problem. Ponies are known to be strong and with a bit of work can be used for sports. Depending on how small they are(this wouldn't work for a dwarf horse), they can be ridden by full grown adults. They aren't built for these sports specifically, but they can be used for training young riders and poeple with a fear of falling off a horse.
